Monday 15th March - walk ***** - Trimley to Levington Marina – sunny periods.

We decided on a walk today as there was a cool breeze from the North so after a morning at home Mag made some tuna pasta and we drove to park at Trimley fishing lakes stopping first at a small garden centre as Mag has a voucher but sadly there was nothing that took her eye. I got a phone call from our local Doctors surgery after sending details of my dodgy left hand and was pleased to learn that I have a ganglion cyst which is just fluid by a joint which hopefully will disappear:) After parking we take the farm track down to the River Orwell coming out by Loompit Lake in sunny periods with some top big Suffolk Skies:) We bump into some friends and stop for a chat before continuing along the bank between the lake and river with the tide at its highest. We were entertained by a couple of swans swimming after each other in an aggressive way:) Not a huge number of birds just a few waders, ducks, a noisy buzzard and cormorants. The seat in the marina BBQ area was taken but the picnic table was free so we had lunch there before carrying on through the marina turning right across the fields spotting two yellow hammers and some deer in the distance. Then down the hill past the nice pump house to the fishing lakes and our van. We then drive to see if the deer were in the three-tree field and a small herd was laying down including one white one. Home for scone and a cuppa as usual, a walk of only 3.25 miles, it seemed much further as it was a bit up and down for Suffolk!
